Help *pics* Glo-Gauges with on/off switch
Wednesday, September 27, 2006 4:07 PM
This is for my other vehicle (2002 PT Cruiser). I had the same set of gauges on my cavy but never got around to bypassing the switch.

Anyways ... These are the ebay gauges & they come with an on/off switch. The switch is totally annoying and tacky. The only way right now to get the gauges to turn on is too use the switch, but shut down when the light are turned off.

I am hoping someone with some electrical experience can help me and others with this problem.

Here a couple (fuzzy ... damn camera) pics.

Gauges

Power Wire / Ground Wire / Switch

Shot of the plug-in on the switch

If anyone has any ideas how I can eliminate that switch please let us know. There has to be a way. I was thinking of just cutting the end off that goes to the switch and wiring it up the same as the + and - wires are?

Thanks everyone!

cut the wires and butt connect them together. then connect your normal + wire to the light swictch if you want them to come one with the lights

I dont think thats right

That switch looks like its a momentary switch so it would give a pulse to the module thingy and then they would turn on. I may be wrong but i'm thinkin thats what it is.
If that is indeed right then there is a circuit with a relay that will give a pulse to something when it sees voltage.
I can get this for you after I get off work.

on a side note --- Wojo: go check out my post on my glovebox

I wouldn't connect the 2 prongs together. THat's how I blew my set for my firebird. Sounds like a good idea from Wizkid up there.

I had gauges with the same switch (two buttons, I'm assuming?) and they just cycled through the color variations. It should be able to be set and left alone. I never had that problem with any of the glow gauges I've had (two different clusters and the HVAC panel)...It might be something wrong with your controller, but I'd double check all of your wiring to make sure you didn't connect something wrong.

They make a different controller for it to come on with the lights, instead of the button. I think i got mine for 15 shipped.
