Relocate Head Unit?????

well i bought a in-dash 7in monitor for my car pc. the unit fits in fine but when i pop out the monitor it hits the dash trim (so it opens like at a 85deg. angle). i was thinking of 2 possibility's to fix this.

1) make the unit stick out so the screen could open at a full 90 deg angle. but is this possible and if so how do i make my head unit stick out??

2) this is a little more complicated but i think if i do it right everything should work out fine. first i wanted to relocate the center a/c vents where the double din stock radio is. i would buy additional a/c vents (the ones located by the door since they are smaller) to put them in a vertical angle next to each other in the oem head unit location. then i would extend the a/c tubes located inside the dash to get some air going to the new relocated vents. next i would customise a single din box to fit the opening in the center where the old a/c vents were. this way my motorised screen could open at a 90deg angle and i would be about to tilt it back more if i wanted 2.

should i go with 1 or 2??? im leaning more towards 2 but i think 1 would be a lil more easy. also if any1 has done this can you please post pics. thanks in advance guys

im not sure you will have the room to run the ac vents where you want. im sure you could get the vent in but i dont think u will have enough space to run tubing down to them without interfering with the new radio location or anything else that is back there.

I think #2 is a lot more work than its worth. You'd be better off glassing the radio section over cutting out a new hole and then moving the new headunit forward. Would give you a nice clean look, and keep it from hitting.

Did you look at any other radios? I know many of them actually have settings to come further forward/back. Yours may have this functionality too.
