Installing remote starter on 2000 Sunfire 2.2L
Sunday, September 24, 2006 5:43 PM
On a 2000 sufire 2200, i"m trying to install a remote starter. I removed the moulding around the steering column, and I disconnected a few of the connectors going to the ignition switch. On one connector there was a yellow, orange, pink, and black wire. I have of those passlock disabler modules with it. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea as to the procedure of connecting the passlock disabler to the ignition wires and to the remote starter (The instructions are a little chinese-english...)

Over on the right side. The wires are tiney. Look for Yellow and black that run to a plug where the key goes in. 1. Cut the yellow in the middle.
2. Strip a spot on the black. Your ground wire goes to the black.
3. On the side of the cut yellow which has the key ignition connect your yellow wire from the module.
4. On the side of the cut yellow wire going into the car connect your Black/yellow.

don't forget to start the car fisrt before you remote start or else it won't, the module needs to learn the r-code first or it'll go into tamper mode. otherwise mennitti is correct on wiring.

What about the ignition/starter wiring?

On the ignition switch, there's a pink, and a yellow wire. On my 555L bypass module, there is a pink, and a yellow wire. On my remote starter, there is a yellow, and a violet wire. The Yellow is labeled as "ignition" with the violet labeled as "starter." Can someone help me sort this out ASAP, the car is down until this is fixed.

In your car:
Red = 12volts
Yellow = Starter
Pink = Ignition
White = 2nd Ignition
Orange = Accessory
Brown = 2nd Accessory

These are all together. Big wires in the 2 plugs on the left side of the column.

For your bypass module. What brand is it?
If it is made by DEI
Red = 12 volt
Pink = ignition
Blue goes to your remote starter on the negative input wire.

Yellow from your remote start and pink from your bypass module both go to the Pink ignition wire in the car.

Violet from your remote start goes to the Yellow in the car.

When I connected it as you said:

the starter came on when I turned the ignition to ON, and wouldn't stop. When I disconnected the violet wire from the yellow wire, it stopped cranking when I turned to ON.

What is wrong here?

I have a DEI module and a Skytek remote starter.

Is the remote starter grounded?

Nevermind, a short in the starter relay. Fixed it, works great now.
