whats the reason for making molds geeds hard to find new pieces? just seems like a ton of work doing a mold if your only doing one piece. as for the wax i'd spend the few dollars to get specialised wax if you have several pieces to do.

i'm wanting to make molds of my current arm rests of my car and then fill the mold with expanding foam so that way its a little easier for me to work with

he'll need something over the tape esp if hes wrapping a armrest, pam works and if thats all your doing is the armrests i'd just use pam i'd probalby use candle wax and then pam on top.
