ok, so ive got some mains that im tuning...and i know im looking for 17v AC off the amp. i just need something thats got decent high end (like say a louie armstrong trumpet) and good low end (Like say lil jon) so i can get an accurate tune, then go a little down from there for safety. any ideas?
i was thinking of jazz like sinatra, or modern rock stuff like maybe godsmack...or even punk like the dropkick murphys since they have acordians, bagpipes, keyboards, multiple octaves and volumes of singing...more i think about it that sounds like a good idea...but what would you guys reccomend??

So wait, I'm not sure what you want. You're saying that you want 17V which sounds like your tuning by multimeter, but you're also saying that you want music, which would mean you were tuning by ear...
If you're not tuning by ear but by meter, go grab a 80Hz 0dB tone from RealmOfExcursion (Unless your speakers go lower than that.)
well kinda both. cuz with mains...any one frequency being perfect could mean another is clipping...so i figured if ive got some music on, maybe i could use it for that, after i tune it at set frequencies, just to check it...

In that case you should download a sweep. A sweep will cycle through from 80hZ to 1000hZ, or whatever your heart desires. Then you can just leave the multimeter hooked up while it's sweeping and make sure it doesn't go over 17.
But I'll let you know I right now, as frequencies increase, voltages usually drop.
even on mains? ive got "bass mekanik- download" but i really dont think the sweeps on that will go too high...considering its bass mekanik
you know of a place i can get a full sweep? thats a much better idea...although i still think the last test will be lil jon, then the dropkick murphys...then louie armstrong

Do something like the Murphy's "Cadence to arms" or "Amazing Grace" or do up some Floggin Molly's "What's left of the Flag".
dark tranquility-lost to apathy
very good highs, mids and lows,
opeth-windowpane
The Crown-Under the whip
i grabbed 3 differnt sweeps off that site, and i threw on a few songs..."yeah" by lil jon and usher, dropkick murphys- sunshine highway, and a few jazz tracks. gonna let them all play with no load on the amp, watching the meter, making sure it doesent peak out.
thanks for all the intput guys...i didnt think id get any responses!!

I agree. That's a pretty good song to test with. Has a little bit of everything.

When I set up my amp, I used the Murphy's Cadence to Arms to make sure the highs weren't too shrill, then Flogging Molly, then I used an old 60's ska song with horns to get a variety of horns, bass, and guitar.
if your setting your gains by meter, use a 1khz tone at 0db.

well my rears have a crossover...they are the new infinity kappas..so i dont need to touch the frequencies. (thank god) all i gotta do is set the gains, and make sure they dont clip....yesterday rained, and today im busy...so i havent had time to do it yet. probably tomorrow evening if it dont rain!
