Does anyone have this model CD player? I'm looking to buy a CD player for my girls VW for her b-day at the end of Sept. I just wanted something thats simple to use and she can plug her MP3 into and would last a decent amount of time. I dont really understand the whole USB port thing, how does that work with a MP3 player? becuase all the customer veiws on crutchfield and circuit city talk about flashdrives and stuff.

The USB doesn't work with a MP3 player, you plug a jump drive into it and it will read music files from it. It does have aux RCA inputs on the back if you want to plug an MP3 player into it. It's a pretty decent deck, we've sold a lot of em because of the USB. You could go into a Circuit City if you want to play with it and check it out.

hhhmmm shes been thinkin of gettin one of those jump drives anyways.... Maybe ill get her the CD player and a USB drive for her B-day lol Well the closest Circuit City is like 40 mins away from me (thats speedin the entire way too), Little far to drive just to test something out. Have you ever played around with them Besse? Is it hard to use the drivers or is it as simple as a plug and play thing on them. Can you recomend a jumpdriver from Circuit City?

Eh, most jump drives are pretty similar, I'd say just look for the best deal and get that. As far as using it, it's really easy, just plug it in, the deck automatically switches to usb, takes a couple seconds to read it and then starts playing. Track forward and back switches between files in the drive.

AGAIN I will stress it that you should step up 20 $ and buy the JVC Arsenal series equivelent Deck, it will last MUCH longer, have better build qaulity ect.

I hate to double post, BUT this is ocming from experience, the Arsenal qaulity is way ahead of the vanilla stuff, and costs a litttle more.

Ah... jump drives. I'll check into this for ya, but if I remember right that JVC deck can't use a certain (popular) brand of jump drives because of the formatting on it. Only thing is I'll be back in the install bay Saturday to check this...

Sony's and some of the other JCV models have 1/8" jacks on the faceplate.

That's a great unit, I have it my 98 Cav. The USB slot will work with ANY usb-storage device upto 1GB. It will work with certain MP3 players, those that are usb-storage compliant. Pretty much any Creative Labs player will work when plugged into the head unit. For an iPod to work, you have to store the songs on the storage (non-playable) part of the hard drive and even then you can only store 1GB. I'm not sure, but I suspect the Kenwood USB head units support larger volumes than 1GB.
