Ok so ive got some 4" JL 2 ways laying around and im thinking of a way to use them. Now I am thinking about cutting some of the headliner out and putting a fiberlgass enclosure with the 2 4'' sticking out. So imagine this
Now its a crappy paint picture but you get the idea. The speakers are ejecting out towards the headrests/heads of the riders/driver. So i will basically just cut out the headliner piece, tape of the headliner, aluminum foil/tape where the piece will go. And just fiberglass like i would any other speaker piece.
Where can I put these so it sounds good? Im making custom kick panels with JL 6.5 components and the tweeter in the A piller, the doors are 6.5 Kicker 2 ways and I dunno where to put the 4" two ways?
ok, so u are putting some comps in the kicks, u got some coaxials in the doors, and u wanna use some more coaxials somewhere... sound quality realy isnt ur game is it? seriously... more isnt always better... 4 out of your 6 speakers can be sold, buy subs... set your system up RIGHT

yeah its not that they are crappy. with your mids and highs more doesnt mean better, that works for bass if you want allot of it. but not for the other stuff, your much better off feeding 100 watts to a single componet set in your car than you are feeding 10 watts to 10 speakers in your car. the more speakers you add the less chance you have at having a decent soundstage or any imaging. what i would suggest is to stick a set of 4" and 1" in the kicpanles and then stick a 6.5" in the doors strictly for midbass. wether you can do this or not depends on wether you have the ability to crossover everything properly.

Sndsgood, i entirely agree with the 3 way recomendation,... but look at this from a noob standpoint, and simplicity standpoint, my personal advice would be 6.5 inch 2 way passive system... simple... either in doors or (if custom fit, kicks), and as for kicks as well, esecialy talking tweeters, im not a fan of that particular spot... i mean, yeah its a great spot for your speakers, but my personal preference, i just dont like it. but that is me... anywho.,.. i realy think his best bet simply because of ease of getting it all set up right and being satisfied with the sound, a simple 2 way passive set up would be mint.

ive been a fan of kicks since i built my first pair, i think the only thing i'd switch them out for would be to run a hlcd setup wich i came close to doing in the sunfire if i would have had more room. granted a 2-way setup is allot easier setup to do i figure the setup should be okay for someone who had intended to fiberglass a shell mounted to the roof of the car. as a soundstage setup 3-way setup is allot harder to master, but most people arnt as anal about that as some of us.

exactly, most people arent that anal... me.... im getting rid of mids i have been running for less than 3 months now... not everything i want... bahhhh being picky is starting to get expensive

I know the feeling, im not only cheap but poor...but i have my priorities straight, car is still not painted and looking like crap, but im tossing the Cadence mids to get some CDT Euro\'s....yep... priorities...
