Good for SQ?

Not looking to compete, but i was looking at the eD 11Kv.2 subwoofer and getting an enclosure from them as well, vented tuned at 30Hz. Is this a good set-up for some good low end? Heard good things from my search, just making sure its not overkill

One thing about the venting our enclosures to 30 hz is that you dont sacrifice alot of acurate sound reproduction vs a box say tuned to 40 hz. You also gain more low end having the box tuned a little lower.

Great sounding combination for the money.

What type of power are you planning on using?

someone will come on here and add more or correct me but you need more than just that incase you didn't know. You need a head unit, Front speakers (Components etc.), ive been told you dont really need rear speakers but if you want you can get some anyhow, then you need an amp for the subs and components. As well as wireing kits and junk.

im assuming he is putting together a good SQ set up, and this is just a question focusing only on his sub selection... yes i would say an 11kv2 ported at 30 is a good start.... if you do not have any other parts of the system lined up (amps, front comps, sound deadener, head unit, etc) let us know what ur looking to spend in those departments as well, i like seeing people shooting for sq not just big boom makes me all warm and fuzzy

Well, i was cruising through Elemental Designs website and was thinking about putting together and all eD system...eDi 6000s v.2 components, a NINe. 2 amp to power the sub and a NINe. 4 bridged for the components...i know this handles the speakers, but i'm not sure about the HU, looking to spend around $200 if possible...How does this set-up sound?

sounds like a Winner to me!
My personal Preference... step up in the sub a bit... go with a 12 instead of 10, possibly a pair of subs.... just to help get a lil more output on the low end to keep up with the comps, keep that mindset of tuning the subs low.
And just some input on my personal opinion... taking full advantage of the forum pricing, and getting the best bang for the buck and spending a tad more to get more and better sound here is what I would do if going all eD..::
Sub: Pair of 13Kv.2 D4's $150
Amp: NINe.1 $315
(or If just one sub is realy what you must have, a 13Kv.2 [$75] and a NINE.2 [$175])
Comps: eDi 6000 $95
Amp: NINe.2 rather than your NINE.4
remove the rears, buy a bunch of eDead mat(witchever is more affordable to you), deaden the rear deck, trunk lid, doors, then use whatever is left over after that to double up on worse areas, or to do more of the car. this is all my advice... dont need to take it... but if u stick to your plans, i say run those comps off the nine.2 rather than nine.4

the only reason I was looking at a single sub instead of two was to try and save a little trunk space, but thats what back seats are for, right? So i'll prolly up it to a 12" And about how many Sq. ft of eDead would you estimate i would need for thos areas?

To do the whole vehicle I would say 100-120 Sq Ft.

To do the doors, trunk, deck lid. I would say 80 sq feet or so.

I dont remember how much I used to do my vehicle, but it was about 30-40 sq ft to do the floor under the carpet. I noticed alot of road noise cut down by doing the floor.

as much as you can afford the more the merrier is say. i did around 3 layers on the entire car along with acoustical pads, foam, soft headliner material etc. at last count i think i had around 350sq. ft. in the car. some say its overkill. but i'd rather have a quieter car and loud music then to try and have louder music covering up a louder car. i'd suggest getting a 100 sq. ft. to start, turn the music on, find out your worse spots, do a couple layers there then check the audio again and find the new bad spots. this way your not waisting sound damping where it isnt needed.

a pair of 12s sealed wouldnt take up too much space... and as for sound deadener, i say sndsgood hit the nail on the head... start with 100sq ft and the most troublesome spots then use the leftover in all the other areas (trunk lid and doors will be good starting points as well)< then buy more as needed

From expereince, 80sq ft. will do both door liberally and the trunk + lid. 120sq ft. will get you the floor almost sone, another 40sf ft will get the sides done, and onto of the another 20 sq ft will get the roof done nicely. I would say anywhere in the range of 180 to 200 sq ft to get a car done properly to elminate rattles and to make a very user friendly acoustic enviroment.

heres one of the main reason i stated to find your problem spots. my car right now doesnt have any rattles that i know of. im not super loud, somewhere in the 138-142 db range, but as of right now i have no sound damping on my trunk lid. to some people this is the worst spot for rattels so everyone always says to dampen it. mine is undampened and doesnt rattle at all. so at the time there was no need to dampen it.
