I want to run the power wire (for my amplifier) from the battery to the interior of the car (duh) but I can't see where the hell I can go through the firewall...it's a 94 Cavalier RS...I noticed on the driver's side a whiteish hard goop surrounding a couple wire harnesses that look like they lead into the interior of the car...is that what I'm looking for, and if so, how do i get it off...there's a screw that doesn't want to come out...
/noob.
No response? Ouch, I thought this would have been an easy one.
use scissors from the inside, stick them in, open them up, stick the wire through.
poke a hole through the rubber with a screwdriver or something...stick wire through

Not so easy. All grommets are full, and the only areas i can find to put the wire through have steel underneath. I guess I'm gonna have to drill though, unfortunately I don't have a drill bit that large in diameter, i need something as large as 4 guage
not sure on the 2nd gens but the 3rd gens had a huge rubber grommet around the steering shaft, on mine i just took a razor knife and cut an x in the bottom of that huge grommet and ran the wire through there, mabey 2nd gens have that? if not, get a good size drill bit and a proper sized grommet

I know this is an old post, but I'll post something anyway based on my experience with a 2nd gen. I used to own a 1994 Cavalier Sedan and I ran some amp wire. I, too, had problems finding an easy way to run amp wire and other wire through the firewall. What I did and found it to be successful is to run the wires through the bottom of the Steering column grommet. I poked a little hole in the grommet around the steering column and shunted the wire though. I then applied silicon caulking and tape over the firewall steel to act as a buffer for the wire to rub against. The car/wire never had any problems, although, it wasn't a simple task to do, but definitely the best option I could find. Again, I know this post is old, but hopefully it helps out the next guy looking to do this on a 2nd gen! :-)
