Problem. Help?
Sunday, July 30, 2006 11:50 PM
Okay, well I was on my way to work today when my battery light came on. At first I'm thinking, "no way this less-than-week-old alternator has taken a @!#$ already", then came "how the hell do two batteries go bad so soon", then I just forgot about it. Well I go to pass someone and my light shuts off, then comes back on. So eventually I figure out that the light goes off above 3100 RPM or so, and comes back on once it drops below that. This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the alternator. Any suggestions on what the problem may be, or any similar situations? Thanks for any and all help.

Check all of your connections first.

Oh and how many amps are you running for that alt?

You know that running 2 batteries on a stock alt is a bad thing. Way to much drain from the alt.

try using only one battery that is known to be good. (I wouldn't try using one of your current two)
If that works then you probably have a bad cell in one of your batts and/or they need to be slow charged
Remember there's a difference between voltage, capacitance, and amperage.
