ok what should i do about my sub amp getting really hot after a while of medium to high volume? its like i burn my hand on it when i touch it
i got the gain properly set
4guage wire
amp is a pioneer 800w mono sub amp running a alpine type r 12
Im not a starfish, It doesnt grow back
hmmm wrong forum
could have sworn i was in audio
Im not a starfish, It doesnt grow back
they will move it mine gets really hot also but works great not sure if its the hot weather helping it get that warm or what
get a couple computer fans and a relay to help circulate some air.
use the remote wire to trigger the relay and tap the fan power off the power input for the amp.
ok if i were to do that then where should i put the fans at
my seats fold down and i have my amps in the opening of the seats for some air flow but it still gets really hot
my 4 channel amp doesnt get hot at all, it just gets warm
what would the relay be for anyways
Im not a starfish, It doesnt grow back
the relay allows you to be able to have the fans only turn on when the ignition is on, ie by the remote wire. but the remote wire, when run from the headunit, only puts out enough juice to trip the amps to turn them on, so you need the full 12v from the amp power wire to run the fan.
Right, but the remote wire should have enough to trip the relay
ic, so just a relay and two fans?
where should i mount these fans
Im not a starfish, It doesnt grow back
where do you have your amp mounted if you mount it where fresh air can get to it you shouldent have a problem with it my amp used to get hott being in the trunk n i used to burn my hand touching it so i took out my back seat n drive around with my windows down n havent had ne problems with it since
i have it mounted right where the seats fold down, and i have the seats folded down, and i drive with my windows open,
ill c if i can get a pic real quick like
edit, its about time someone moved it
