Im almost done with my new gas door. But i need some sort of way to tell if it did not retract completely or not.
Would a momentary switch work?
I figure if i put the switch on the opposite side of the actuator, and wire it to an in dash LED. When the putton is pushed in, the closed position of the door, have the LED off, but when the switch is depress have the LED turn on.
Would that work?
Only problem I see is that you have the button depressed for both (at least thats how it reads). "Button pushed in ...have the LED off" and "when the switch is depressed have the LED on".
yeah a momentary 2 position switch should work, just have the common side wired to a power source suitable to drive an LED, and hook the normally open side to the led, and the normally closed side you'd leave unhooked. this way when the door is open, the switch will engage the normally open side (meaning the microswitch has no pressure on it) it will provide power to the LED, but when the gas door is closed it will break the circuit to the LED and it will go out. thats acutally a really dumbed down version of an aircraft landing gear position indicator system

Or just use a pin switch.
Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.

Sweet thanks, I was thinking along those lines and you just confirmed it for me.
