small problem hooking up my power wire....

Right now I have 8 gauge power wire since I only have one amp. However, that is about to change.

I currently have the power wire hooked up to the screw that goes into the fuse block under the hood (the wire that is there comes straight from the battery). I did this in my old car also, and have run it like this for a while with no problem. When I upgrade everything, I will be using 4 gauge power wire which I am told should be hooked up straight to the battery because where I currently have it may not get enough current (the wire that comes from the battery may not handle the current).

Herein lies my problem. I have an ECOTEC that is equipped with the RK Sport intake. Unfortunately, the intake sits very close to the (+) terminal on the battery. So buying a longer stud for hooking up such a wire is not feasible as it would undoubtedly short out on the intake.

Without relocating my battery, which I have NO desire to do.... What are my options for hooking this power wire up to the battery?

Thanks

I have 4 gauge that I was able to run from the normal stud on the battery without needing the extension and have never had a problem; solid power and solid connection. The plastic cap also still covers the terminal to prevent shorts. I don't remember exactly what that intake looks like, but does it not have adjustable joints on it, so you could possibly move it an extra inch away from the terminal if you extend it? You could also get a better terminal that splits into a few different round openings for the aftermarket cables to attach into, which would also be sealed.

I have 2 amps installed, with the dual fuse block, not to mention I have also installed fog lights, as mine did not have any when I bought the car. I also have an intake (CAI) that is for an '02 that I moded for my '05. I have no problem with clearance for the positive terminal on the battery. The cap on the positive is there to keep things from touching it. Move somethings around (your intake) or get a different battery with side and top posts.
