Will this Double Din Unit fit ?
Wednesday, May 31, 2006 7:05 PM
I have a 2001 Cavalier Z24 and I know the CD player is Double Din..

I want to put this unit in and simply replace the CD player and put the dash back in and make it looks stock.. Is that gonna work ?

JVC KW-AVX706

It says the unit doesnt fit, and I dont know why it wouldnt so I am asking everyone to see why it wouldnt ?

Thanks in advance.. also if anyone has had experience with this model let me know what you think.. I have had a few JVC units and I have been happy with them.

Also, will it be good as for as input/outputs to get a Game console ( SNES bitches lol ) to be plugged in.. and get 2 visor screens to accept the signal from the JVC ?

Thanks ! if not ill go with the AVX2

I think it won't fit because how the bottom section is angled inwards. it would be cool if it fit though.

I didnt double post on purpose... my internet is just too fast tonight, I pressed post and back really quick and then checked in a new window and it didnt show it and then when I posted again.. It went again

I guess ill just have to see if it works and if not ill sand down the center console.. but I was pretty sure its the same size as stock, so I dont know if it would or wouldnt

according to JVC's website, it'll fit.

Sweet.. I didnt see the fit guide..

But is there a way split one output into 2.. so I can power 2 more screens ?

And I know there is an input for a signal.. so I could use that to hook up the SNES ?

and what about hooking up the amps ? I have a JL 1000/1 and 300/4 that I need to split off the RCAs also..

So its really confusing..

use an RCA splitter for the video out to two monitors.
video in for the SNES
and it has audio outputs to go to the amps.

The only reason they say it wont fit is because the unit is a Double DIN size. The J-Bodys as well as many if not all GM cars have DIN and a Half radio slots. So it could fit, but the buttons and such will not fit through the DIN and a Half sized opening in the stock dash. Unless you plan on cutting it to work with the screen.

The JVC site also says nothing about the unit fitting. Just that the depth is 6". A Din-and-a-half or "Half-DIN" slot is 3" tall. A Double-DIN is 4", Double-DIN is usually only found in Japanese cars. But like I said if you plan to do some modding on the dash then you could make it fit.

Ive always heard 95-99 Cavi is 1.5 Din.. 00+ or at least 00-02 is 2..

I have an 03 and its DIN and a Half. That looks like DIN and a Half to me too.

This is what a stock Double DIN looks like

I don't know though, do a search and see if you can find some members with a Double DIN radio and see if they got it to fit with no modding.

your going to have to file out the dash. I had got the avx2 and then 2 weeks later jvc sent us the 706. ours is slightly larger than a din 1/2 but not quite 2 dins. I know this b/c i have tried to fit my stock radio in about 3 other gm cars that have 1.5 din radios. but you are going to have to file it out a little. I would suggest just going with the avx2. Its going to do the same as the 706 you are just going to get a bigger screen. plus the avx2 looks great if you iso-mount it
