Changing voltage of external RCAs as HU turns up
Tuesday, May 23, 2006 9:38 PM
Hey guys, I know this is possible, I'm just wandering if there's an easy way to do it.

I'm wiring a DVD player in my car, and it has RCA outs for each 5.1 channel, (2 surround, 2 front, center, sub). I'm going to run the front L and R into the AUX in on the headunit, so I can have easy access to volume control.

Then I'll run the surround lines and center line to separate amps. But I'd like the voltage of these lines to go up as I turn up the head unit.

I have a Rear L and R output open on the Head Unit, if that helps.

Any ideas?

you need the HU to control all of it if you want that

Okay, new question.

Is there such thing as a 6-line potentiometer?

what the hell are you going to do with the pot? if your going to use it for volume just get one pot and run all of it in parrallel to your pot.

Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

I need to change the voltages of 6 different lines at the same time, each with a different signal passing thru.

yes you can get the pot you were talking about.... but why? why do you need the voltages to increase?

Oi, you have to beat around the bush and not give me a straight answer, huh?

I'm using a home DVD player with an RCA output for FL, FR, Center, SL, SR, LFE and I'm sending the lines to different amps, but the DVD player wont have a volume control (or a convenient one) so I need to use a Pot to control them all at the same time. Since they're all different signals, I can't just run parallel.

So where can I get one, or at least what is it called?

Because it's what I can afford

And I've shake-tested it. It stands up to the finest potholes, so why not?
