How can i hook up my fosgate speakers if i have the factory mp3 deck and want to hook them up amplified, is it possible?
i have 4 wires going to my stock speakers and they sound good but can i hook up my others as well and have them hooked up the same or not?

Thanks in advance.

Check into an FM modulator. It connects via antenna connection on the back of your factory deck and has preouts that will allow you to run your amp. It works by transmitting the signal to an unused FM radio station. They sound pretty decent, but you don't have any other choice other than using your high level inputs on your amp, assuming it even has them. Even if it did, they are a pain and don't sound any better.

This would only apply if they wanted to plug something INTO their deck.

In your situation, if your new speakers don't have four leads on them, you'll just have to hook up one set of wires, you'll probably lose power, but I wouldn't doubt you'd gain sound quality

so basically since my new 6x9's only have 2 leads i cant hook them up to be amplified by the stock deck? I thought i heard that with all 4 wired connected it is amplified. I didnt know if there was a way to rig it up to connect the 4 wires to the 2 leads and make it work.

Great, well do you have any idea how to hook up the 4 wires coming out of the harness to the speakers i want to put in? Is there a factory amp because i have the 6 speaker package and it sounds damn good. all it is for the 6 speakers is there is a tweeter over the front speakers. is it amplified already just from the headunit or whats going on with it?

If there is an amp, it'll be under the carpet in the trunk, peek around a bit.

Hopefully someone will pop in here soon. My car isn't factory amped, so I'm not sure which set of wires is the amped set :S

check and see if you have the amp. it'll be on the driver side of the trunk, behind the strut tower. just pull the carpet away and you should see it.
if you do have it, there are two options. you can either a) pull the inputs out of the amp, splice some longer wires onto those, and hook those to your 6x9's, or b) go with an amp. you can't use the factory amp on aftermarket speakers due to a large impedance mismatch.
you might be able to pull the input out of the stock amp, rewire it into a high level input connector on your amp, and hook that to your 6x9's. I think I'm going to try that in the future.

yes i do have that amp. but i dont know how to pull all the inputs, how soon were you going to do what you suggested? and woudl it sound better or worse with my aftermarket speakers hooked up comapred to the stock ones? if worse then ill just leave the stock ones in since they sound pretty good.

I'm leaving mine in for now. mine sound decent, but I know one day I'll blow them.
chances are, for the aftermarket 6x9's to sound as good if not better than the stock stuff, they would have to be amped.

If you're going to hook the RF 6x9 to the factory wiring, you'll want to use the speaker wires that connect to the woofer of the factory speakers. I don't recomend it though. The factory amp has a built in crossover in it that splits the highs and lows, so basically you'd be running all of your lows into the new 6x9's. Since they are a full range speaker, that wouldn't sound too good. Get an amp with high level inputs and run wire from the factory harness in the dash, or buy an rf modulator that converts speaker level inputs to RCA outputs and do it that way. The best bet is to buy a new head unit though. If you think the monsoon system sounds good, try a new deck and an amp hooked up to those Rockfords. You'll be glad you did it.

i actually cut the wires on my speakers for the highs and soldered them individually to the high output of the stock amp....pain but it sounds great and no loss

Ahhh sorry, I thought you meant adding another amp to your system. Oops....

If you can do it this is definitely the best way to hook up your new speakers. Depending on the speaker the tweeter leads may be hard to get at but if you can do it, it will sound good.

Is there any possible way to get pics of what you soldered? Im not very good with speaker wording. I know i have the amp though lol. And i know i have the positive and negative on my fosgates punch series 6x9's and i was looking at my factory speakers and see the wires connected on the 2 sides of the speaker. Like i said i like the way stock sounds but i imagine it could do better.

Thanks, so is it going to sound better if i hook my 6x9's up to the stock deck than leave my factory ones in? because i dont want to replace the deck or buy an amp right now, saving for rims.

I'd take em back and leave the factory speakers in if you're not ready to upgrade the deck. The Monsoon system is tuned to sound pretty good in our vehicles with the speakers rpovided, and if you change those, you may lose sound quality. Take the money for the speakers and put it in the bank with the rest of the money you're saving for your wheels.

Its not the monsoon, its just a 6 speaker system with the factory mp3 deck that was put in cuz the guy wanted it.

sun and sound package i think, i thought the deck was supposed to say monsoon then?

Okay, sorry. Still, unless you're ready to solder the wires like mentioned above, I'd stick with the factory speakers as mentioned above. Either that, or clip the rear speaker leads from the radio before they get to the amp in the trunk, and run new wires from those leads to the new speakers. That way, you're getting the signal before it hits the factory amp's built-in crossover. Check the FAQ in this forum for wiring diagrams.
