Port Calculations
Tuesday, May 23, 2006 9:26 AM
I need help. I'm porting my box using a 4" AeroPort and I'm having trouble determining the port length needed. My box is 2.7 cubic feet and my desired tuning frequency is 44Hz. Using a formula I found, I'm getting that I can only have a port length of 2.xx" whis I know isn't right. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. I'm having a major brain fart in the math department today.

IF 2.7 is the net cubic ft. (you did not give sub displacement figures) then your port should be 2.739 inches long.

the displacement on that port would be 0.0225 cubic feet.

Give me your subs displacement can i can factor that in.

The sub is a 15" Kicker Comp VR and the displacement is approx. 0.15 cubic feet. The only problem I'm running into now is each flange on the AeroPort is 1.5" so the LEAST the port length can be is 3". I guess I'll just have to do 3" long and adjust accordingly.

Thanks alot, wysiwyg, you've been a huge help. I hope to get a bit louder with porting and practically doubling my power from my crappy 600w Lanzar (600 watts...yeah right)
