I'm acquiring a 2002 cavalier, and I'm going to put my system that was in my Trans Am in it.. thing is I'm adding an extra amp that I didn't have a chance to put in before.
I'm going to be running an 800W amp for the subs, and a 720W 4 channel for the speakers, what size wire do I need to run from the batt for this? Guy at the stereo shop said 4 gauge but that seems kinda small? I figure I'll run a beefy wire to the trunk then split it via a junction block, but just wondering what size to run?
PS. It looks like putting in a headunit in a 2002 cav is a pita, way to go GM

4awg will work fine. but go bigger if you want, won't hurt anything.

I would say either run a 4ga for each amp from a distribution block that connects at the battery or run 0ga from the battery bach and then do 4ga from a distribution block. I tend to go a little bigger. Like my MTX amp requires 8ga, but I run 4ga instead.

Wow, you guys respond quick, haha, in the time it took me to post that 2nd msg you guys had also posted! Ok, I'll see how much wire will cost for a thicker ga... hmm... I'm guessing I should also get a yellow optima top and upgrade all my other wires too, haha. Thanks for the help guys.

Yea. Do it right and go with 0 guage now. That way, your covered if you decide to upgrade in the future. Plus goin bigger never hurt.
