Cap question

Are you stupose to charge a cap before instaling it?? To me a cap it pretty much a battery and if it aint got no charge it seems pretty useless.

charge? no its gonna discharge pretty quick, within a couple seconds

Yes, you should charge the capacitor before making the connection to the amplifier. It should have come with a resistor. Hook the resistor in line between the power and the capacitor and ground the cap on the ground side. It shouldn't take long to charge up.

ahhh i misread i thought u meant just charge it.. ya u should use the resistor it comes with it to aviod sparking...

you dont have to charge it......they just reccomend it for safety.

i have a 5 farad and i didn't charge mine, heck i dont' need the 5 farad now lol, sold the old system and building the new one

u can... but u don't really need to as some people said.. it's just a safety precaution manufacturs take..
