Sub Box Question
Sunday, April 30, 2006 8:24 PM
I'm looking to add some bass to my system so i'm shopping around for subs and coming up with potential box designs. II might be doing 2 8" subs to save space. If I wanted to put them both in the same enclosure, do I double the recommended box volume?

in theory yes, also, look into having a box custom made for your car and your subs, seperate chambers wouldnt be a bad idea either, running 2 subs in a common chamber isnt that bad either, that is if theyre not running on seperate amps. if i were you i would go to www.soundsthatpound.com and e mail JD, hes a great guy, and builds some great boxes. send him the TS info on the subs and he can give you dimensions and pricing on boxes for them, a sealed box for 2 8's reguardless of what brand or type of subs, is going to be fairly small, so it wouldnt cost much

If you want to do an uber small enclosure for 2 8's and still have it bump for you, check into an isobaric enclosure.

now a days you really dont need to do isobaric esp on something as small as an 8. i can find 8's that require maybe .25 cu. ft. so u get to a point where you cannnot build a box small enough. not to mention with isobaric youlle only get the output of roughly 1-8

Here are the subs that i'm looking at right now. You may have never heard of the company, but i've heard they're pretty good. Plus they only require a .2 cubic foot box, so i'd only need .4 for two of them.

Resonant Engineering RE8's. One of the best 8's out there for the price. I think you can still get them for aroun $60 each shipped to your door. Sound gret in sealed boxes.... around .23 u.ft.

Www.reaudio.com Get the phone number off the site and call them. Dont e-mail...they get way to many per day to respond to all of them.

RE8's would be the way to go by far! and take it from me, i DONT have RE advertised in my sig, so im not biased like that man above me lol (just picking on ya Lash :-p). RE is an amazing company with some amazing woofers and you should seriously look into them. Dayton isnt horrible to be honest, but i would rather have the RE's

I was looking at RE's 6.5" component systems, as well as their subs. Do I have to call them for prices, or is it listed somewhere on the site and i'm just not seeing it.

If i remember right, it's RE that requires you to buy from a local certified dealer, if one is not near you, you must call and order direct from them. they're a lil strict on the internet sales.

I called them and they said their 8" RE series were $109 each, and their component system was $250. That's a little out of my price range right now, so i'll probably have to go with something else.

Wow.....U.S. Amps continues to piss me off. They doubled the prices on most of their stuff. Something fishy is going on!!!

How much bass would I get out of the eu-700s if I were to put two of them in a sealed box? I'm not really looking for killer bass, just something to put a little bump in my system.

Well, i've got a little time before i'm ready to buy anything, so i've got some time to think about it. In the meantime, does anyone have any good ideas on locations for a box?

I contacted JD, and i may just go through him for everything. He gave me a price of $279, which includes a 12" MA Audio sub, 800 watt amp, and custom enclosure. That's not bad.
