I noticed a lot of you have larger alternators to make up for the draw on your elecdtrical system. Last time I replaced the alternator, the guy at the shop said there is no bigger alternator on file for '99 sunfire. What are you guys using? You using an alt from a different car or somethin, or are you buying from specialty shops???

Yep. You woun't find any bigger GM's listed with Alternator shops though.

Dom Iraggi's are big here and at dbdrag.com, or I use an Ohio Genrator.

Well you have 3 choices.

1) Try a universal alt from a random shop, Not recommended.

2) Buy a Dom or other known upgrade.

3) Have your stock alt rewound, and upgrade the regulator.

i chose option 3. I have a rewound alt 150 amp at highway speeds and 135 at idle. Which for me is enough.

Unfortunately, those upgrades are unknown to me. Also, I wouldn't know where to go to get my stock alt rewound. I also haven't got the time to go through my car and figure out how high I should get it set if I were to have it rewound, unfortunately.

*bumpin this up b/c I didn't find out about having my alt rewound and approximate price estimate would be expected to pay (also wondering what I should get my alt to put out if I do get it rewound, and where to have it done)*

Michael, email Dom as Nate posted. dominick@tds.net

Dom's a great guy. I'll put it this way. How many people do you know that would answer an email on Christmas Day?
