I did a search and didn't come up with anything; I apologize if I missed something and there's already a thread about this.
I sold my stock radio/single disc CD player (03 Cavalier) on eBay. I know that to get around the theftlock in the BCM the car it will be installed in must be taken to a dealer to be installed so they can bypass it. The buyer of the stock radio requested my VIN number stating that the dealership asked for it because they say it will be easier to get around the theftlock. Does this make sense, should I give this stranger my VIN number?

Blown.
I'd contact aGM dealership for verify
I just saw a thread on the first page in the forum where someone stated that the ECU is tied to the VIN of the vehicle and, therefore, the only way to install a factory radio (00+) would be to go to a dealer. The only thing that I don't understand is I thought the radio is tied to the BCM, not the ECU. Furthermore, would the dealership still be able to unlock the radio without my VIN?
I apologize for all the questions, I'm going to contact a dealer as soon as I can. In the meantime, if anyone has any other comments or suggestions, please post up. Any help is much appreciated.
