Building a box
Tuesday, March 28, 2006 9:58 AM
I have been reading on www.the12volt.com bunch of good audio write ups, and im not sure why im asking this Q here, instead of there, but i just feel like ill get a more friendly response here. I have come to the conclusion that i need to get a whole bunch of measurements about the speaker, i want to build a perfect box for my car, but i dont know all the numbers, like the air space inside the car, ect. I have two Visonik 10" Dual 4ohm Voice coils with a 700 watt pyramid amp..... i got a wiring diagram from rockford on how to wire it to 1ohm, but what are the tools maybe a program that i can use to build a box

i have a visonik 10" DVC subwoofer @4ohms per coil. its in a 1.5 cubic foot 4th order bandpass box. now my 10" came with specs from visonik, and i recomend if you have a fair bit of knowledge, that would be your best bet.

my sub: http://www.visonikcaraudio.com/sub/products/subwoofers_5.html

there is computer software that can be used to gather measurments in a few various ways to help construct your box. my box was constructed with such software, but you REALLY need to know what you are doing to use this.

my box was constructed by my boss. he has been somewhat of an audiophile for about 15 years or more now. he can do some amazing things. if you want to see some of my stuff, look on my car domain page, there are some pics there. all the wiring was done by myself and at the moment is temporary, so dont tell me it looks like a rats nest cause i already know.

the software he use is here.

it is a free download, but it will more than likely take you years to understand how to collect and use this knowledge. i suggest just using the info that came with your visonik subs.

before you fry your amp or your subs, make sure your amp can handle going down to one ohm. how many channels is your amp? is it 4 or 2 or 1 or is it a combonation that can be bridged?

if you are in the southern ontario canada area and dont mind making a drive up to Northern York Region or Southern Simcoe area, i can ask him if he can build it for you. email me if you are interested.
