How to tell when there is distortion?
Monday, March 27, 2006 6:10 PM
Hey guys, i have an l5 in a custom vented box paired with the kicker kx600.1 mono. Its so loud i cant even tell when the damn thing is, or if it is even distorting. i want to make sure i am not over powering the sub, i know the rms rating of the sub goes down a bit with a vented box, but the l5 is rated for 600 rms. I dont hear anything like the sub bottoming out, and i dont see it exerting the rubber surround beyond its capability, although it is moving pretty dam good. I have the gain set about half, the bass boost about half and the hetrz at 80. What your take on this? anyone have a setup like this? if so what are your settings?

Read the sticky up top that I wrote, it'll tell you how to set gains.

also what are you playing to hear for distortion. make sure you play a cd that was well recorded and plays clean music where you can hear all the instruments.
