Seemed to have lost my chimes the other day, go in and find out they're working fine, but my speaker is blown. Changed the balance/fade all around, all others work fine but driver's front makes no noise at all.
So, I guess it's time to start some upgrades. I don't want anything too drastic, I'm not gonna try to win sound competitions. I was thinking of just upgrading the front 4x6's and rear 6x9's, and maybe running a decent 4 channel amp to give them enough power. I want to keep my stock radio. I'd like suggestions on which speakers would give me the best deal between sound quality and price (I'd only like to spend about $150 total on speakers) and what amp to go with them. I don't listen to a lot of bass-y music, so I don't feel the need for any subs, so I'd also like 6x9's that could handle the bass decently on their own.
Thanks for the help.
150 TOTAL? have fun at walmart...
spend a little more. i absolutely love my infinity reference 6 1/2" components (120 at best buy). they're running with a set of pioneer 6x9's on an aftermarket head unit.
GO PATS!!!
What can I say? I'm a cheapass...
Nah, I'm willing to spend more. That was just a number I threw out that sounded reasonable to me.
If you want to stay under $150 for speakers, go ebay. If not, get some front ones only at a retail store, and a cheaper 2-channel amp for them.
Yeah, $150 is low. I got Infinity Reference 3.5" speakers and JVC 6x9's and they cost around $250 at Future Shop (My front speakers were both blown same as yours so I just replaced all 4).
Like someone else said, the Infinity Reference are good quality speakers, and they're fairly inexpensive.
Sony X-plod 6x9's at walmart are $99.97 CAD if I remember correctly...

I'd say using sites like sonicelectronix and ikesound, $300 should be more adequate.
I got a pair of pioneer 6 1/2" and pioneer 6x9's off cardomain for real close $150. They have a real nice sound to them, not very much bass though, but I don't need much for the type of music I listen to. Also, they're not powered by an amp.
