Delco's louder and more crisp than infinity
Wednesday, March 08, 2006 11:51 AM
I have my stock speakers in the rear and my infinity reference 6.5" 2 way speakers in my doors. Well I have noticed lately that the delco's are louder and alot cleaner sounding than my infinity's. The infinity's are kinda flat sounding. They used to be really crisp and clean sounding what happened. lol It's drivin me crazy here. Could it be that the tweeter is getting tired. it's model# 6002i they're reference line speakers and they are all run off my headunit. though in my old car they were amped. 50x2 RMS.

sounds like your speaker is getting wet in your door

there are no signs of moisture there. I mean I have the magnet sealed off from the moisture as best as possible. I might just order my componets soon and toss the 6.5's

Aftermarket can handle more power, but they also require more power to sound their best. Your factory speakers are made to run on 5-10 watts from your factory deck, so when you put an aftermarket in that's giving them closer to 20 watts, they sound louder. Aftermarket speakers are usually rated for closer to 40-50 watts, so to get the performance from them, you need to give them that power. If you put a small amp on them like you had in your old car, you'll notice the difference.

How do you have it sealed off?

And the magnet is not what you have to worry aboot, its the cone and the wires.

Besse's right. if your using your stock deck, your stock speakers will prob sound better, cuz they're matched up to the recievers power output better. The Infinity's are made to handle a little more power, and your stock reciever isnt giving them enough.
