can I put a set of 6.5" components into the factory location without hacking it all up? I would like to keep it stock with no fiberglass and then wrap the door with vinal and put in a speaker grill where the speaker is.
Whats up people?
ummm, i really doubt it, the whole isnt't that big you're gonna have to at least cut the whole in your door bigger, the stock speakers are only 4x6's
suckin ain't fuqin, and eatin ain't cheatin'
^^^ just so you guys know i have 5X7 speakers in the factory location now and every shop i go to is like how the hell did you manage that?!?!?!
Whats up people?

UM NO!
dont give false information.
I have 6.5" 3 ways in my front doors without cutting anypart of the door.
And without fiberglassin.
You need to make some adapter plates. Real simple is you know how to use a pencil, a ruler, a drill and a saw.

How do you make the adapter plates? Im curious because I was going to go about making kick panels, but i really dont want to do that. I also have crank windows does that matter? One more thing, sorry...But am I going to get alot of vibration in the doors with those?
YOu get a piece of MDF, i forgot how thick. and you trace the sive of your stock speakers on to it, and then line up your New speakers over that. So you cut around the outside of that line and around the rectanglular part in the middle. Transfer the stock mounting points to the piece of MDF. drill out those holse, and mount you new speaker to the MDF, then mount the MDF in your stock speaker hole.
Real simple.
you could also get the adapters from Crutchfield if you order your speakers through there. they are free. dunno how they cost separately
only thing is you might need to cut an opening out of the door panel beacuse right now i cant screw the panel over the speaker becuase it comes out too much. if you cut an opening and put the grill on it will be fine
i have the 6.5" alpine type r's and there is no way to put them behind the door panel without cutting the panel, I have made 2 speaker rings out of 3/4" mdf and glued them together then cut the shape out of the panel and wrapped them in vinyl, so far it looks good but my interior isnt done yet, but that is for type r components other sets will fit with less modifications the alpines are just super deep

I have 6.5"s behind my door panel and they're fine they clear with no issue. I also have pics to show the spacer I made to adapt them in.

the pictures in that thread might be good to show your shop though...
GO PATS!!!
yeah i dont really care what the guy at the shop says i know they will fit so thats all that matters.
when i went to that store i had my panels off so i showed him what i did and he couldnt believe they fit and i was able to get a neon light in front of them as well
after that i got in my car and drove away and never went back cause if they are afraid of a little custom work i dont want to deal with them even if im doing the work myself
so 6.5" fit does anyone know the mounting depth of them cause i am looking at a set of components and the woofer has a magnet like the size of an 8" sub. its huge ! ! !
or could someone recommend a good pair of components i was thinking my infinities or rockfords
Whats up people?
i love my infinity reference 6.5 components. HUGE upgrade over the pioneer 4x6's i had in there...
GO PATS!!!
i recommend infinity's, as for mounting depth, measure from the edge of the bottom of the rim to the magnet, then transfer that measurement to you door with the window down, does it fit?
