im assuming this is for a head unit...why don't you just use the factory ground wire in the harness. thats what ive always used and have had no problems. thing is with that metal bar is that im not sure if it hooks to the chassis, so it may not work

You could use the metal bar, but unless you're deck is dimming or shutting down you might as well just use the factory ground wire.

the book had said not to hook it up to the ground wire hook it up to metal.i just got the radio and dont want to f it up.so it doesnt matter.that bar does hook up to chassis.what happens if the isnt hooked up correctly will it blow the radio.the radio i got is a pioneer deh p80mp.

You cant blow the the radio, you would blow the .25 cent fuse first. And why drill a hole, use your stock ground wire, cause the IS connected to the metal bar you are talking about.

so i just will connect it to the ground. the metal bar i was talking about is in the radio din its a metal bar that if the radio was any longer you wouldnt be able to push it all the way in.the pioneer manual said dont it that i wondering because there is a seperate wire for ground. thanks to everyone that responded. all the info.finally get my new radio up and running didnt feel like drilling holes anyway

not exactly true, if its a cheap stereo... its very possible, or if u replaced the fuse with one that has too high of rating for it. The JVC in my cav blew all its speaker outputs... mind you I was playing around with my first amp, and tapped it to a speaker that was still connected...

the stock grounds for the stock radio sometimes cant handle the higher powered aftermarket headunits so allot of people suggest you go to your own ground, its what i usually do. im not sure if that bracket is attched to the frame or not without looking at it.

i found it way easier to hook it up to that metal bar, there was a metal screw there and my ground off the deck i have had a little c clip on the end that held it perfectly...just there is a lot of crap comin out the back for the deh-80mp cuz i have that and with the fuse box on the positive feed, and the rcas i had to take out the hvac and tuck the wires in behind that before i could get the deck in, that was a pain..kinda
