Sunfire Owners - Where's your ground?
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 11:42 AM
I have a 98 sunfire, and I'm wondering where the rest of you sunfire owners have your grounds at? I was thinking the seatbelt bolt, but that would require a lot of cleaning. Don't really want to get down there and clean the paint off and clean the bolt, etc. Its pretty nasty down there in my car. Anyone have any other suggestions? I don't want to make any new holes in my car. I'd like to re-use an existing bolt.

Bleh. Its rusty tho. And how the heck do you pop the back seat off? I'm like 90% sure that thing comes off, but I've tried everything I can think of and the stupid thing just won't come off.

Slide to the right and pop it out? I forget, mine's been out for a year or so. Check the interior forum.

What are you trying to ground? An amp? then there is an open hole just behind the plastic trim between the rear fold down of the seat and the trunk, Just get a bolt and nut that fits together and through that hole, and use a ring terminal and you have a ground. Or you can ground to the rear strut towers. Again, use a ring terminal, and remove the only bolt you can from the top, and you got yourself another ground.

If your trying to ground something in the dash, use can use the bracket to the OBDII diagnostic scan port on the driver side about a foot under the steerning wheel.

And in the engine compartment, there are tons of places to ground.

I pulled up my rear side and grounded my Amps to a bolt for the flip down part of the seat.
Works well and it's nice and clean looking.

Doh, I should have noticed that sooner. That's probably about the best ground spot for me. Thanks for pointing it out.

As for my profile haven't had time. Been busy at work. Boss wouldn't be happy if I was messing around when I wasn't on break.
