I am soon going to be installing a factory CD player in place of my cassette player. Just wondering if it plays CD-Rs' or burned CDs?
Depends. the radio from my 00 cavi played SOME of my CD-R's, but not all of them. However the CD player from an 03 or 04 cavi might, I don't know.
I'd just go get a $100 pioneer or Sony CD player and be done with it. :-)

Yes, that's the one I was thinking of. Make sure that is the CD player you get if you do go with a stock cavy deck. Any other stock player will not work 100% of the time.
I've never had problems playing any burnt CD's in my 05 and it's the bottom of the barrel HU

My 02 played every burnt cd I put in it. It was the most basic player too.

The base model CD deck plays CDR's but not CDRW's. The Monsoon one plays both I think.
RDS(non monsoon) plays cd-r but not cdrw
mt stock 2001 Cavy played any burnt CD ive ever put in it. My head unit has both a CD player and Tape Deck.
Also what is the monsoon system that came stock? Ive nevr heard of this.

The stereo upgrade from the factory, if u have factory tweeters up front chances are your car has the monsoon upgrade, I think, of course chances are I'm incorrect and will soon be corrected.
I got one off a Grand Am GT. It plays CD's, CD-R's, CD-RW's, MP3's, and WMA's. Factory fit and finish with red display. I love it.

my Monsoon Cd player in my 02 Sunfire so far has played every burnt cd i've put in it, and the Mosoon system has 8 speakers, if you see a little tweeter looking thing sticking out of your door where the speakers are then u have the Monsoon system but i could be wrong cause my buddy has an 04 Cavy LS and he has the same headunit but i didnt see any tweeters in his doors

My 04 sunfire has the tweeters sticking out but I don't have the monsoon system. Well either that or I can't find the other 2 speakers.
