i just bought a used Pioneer DEH-2400 head unit for my 93 4-door automatic cavalier and it doesn't fit in the radio pod. the back of the aftermarket unit hits what looks like HVAC plumbing. anyone else run into this problem? is the only way to make this thing fit involve cutting into the HVAC system?
thanks in advance!

you could use a pop out. Its a dash kit that puts your head unit a few centimeters outfrom the dash.

yea that's what i'm using...its currently at the furthest setting(one inch) and it still makes contact with the back of the radio pod

well in case anyone's interested the HVAC plumbing is about one inch behind a plastic dash support piece. i used a 2-inch hole-saw to make room for the main wiring mess on the left and the antennae wire on the right by cutting through that plastic dash support. now the head unit fits "like a glove"

I had a 92 cavalier and flush mounted my headunit in. it was a sony and I used a flat faced dash kit. it was a metra universal. I might be able to show you a pic if interested. Let me know. I also trimmed the dash. I used a rotozip.

yea i used the metra universal kit as well...with the back of the dash trimmed id say the pioneer is punched out approx. 1/2-3/4 of an inch
