Turn the key to on, but don't start it. Sit in your car for about 10 minutes with your key on and it should go out. Then start yer car. If you would have searched, you would have found this.

Could be a drained battery or even a disconnect harness behind he dash, i'm sure you checked all the connectinons right. Try changing the battery or hooking it to a charger, then try to start it. What did you remove or disconnect to work on the car?

ok, i took the dash off. put my things on...disconnected the cd player. plugged it back in, then turned it on to see if it worked...it did. then i put eveything on. then i think i started it to try and get some heat (its freezing out). then i finished and then tried to turn it on and the theft light came on. i actually think it came on once before that but i just turned it on and it went. so after this time of me not being able to turn it on....i just d/ced the battery for a while. and it still didnt work. then i left it on for like 20 to see if it turned off like lanman said. that didnt work. and now thats where i am. im pretty sure thats the order of everything. now the headlights wont even turn on and stuff so i think its a dead battery but that still dont solve my theft lock problem. so ill charge it tomorrow then do whatever else you guys suggest. thanks.

Sounds like your root problem is that dead battery. If the anti-theft was being tripped, the car would start and then die right away. Charge that battery and then I bet your problems will be solved.

then id check the theft lock harness going in to the instument cluster, theres 3 of them to the right of the cluster. look and make sure you didnt accidently disconect it, and make sure you didnt rip the wires out. the only thing i can think of besides the battery being dead. altho it makes me wonder how the battery got dead.

and if the theft lock still kicks in when you try and start the car (once the battery is charged also by the way) email me and ill tell you how to totaly disable the theft lock system.

Yea, the clicking sound is defintly a dead battery, used to happen to me all the time.

Heres your problem, You blew the fuses under your hood that say "Batt 1" or Batt 2" maybe both, check them out

Easiest way is to take a mulitmeter or test light and test one side of the fuse and then the other. If you get the same reading on both sides, it's good, if you get different readings, the fuse is blown.

The Easiest way is to pull the fuse out, hold it up to the light and see if there is a break in the peice of metal you see, look for some black charring as well.

So I assume I was correct?

If you know exactly which fuse to look at, that might be ok, but what if you aren't sure? Using a test light or MM is a quick and easy way to check any or all of your fuses quickly.

This is also true, However if you arent lucky enough to have a test light handy than you can narrow the problem down..something like this...
"My car wont start"....that probably wouldnt be a headlight fuse. ya know
So get out the fuse box diagram on the door and start your search.

If a broad number of things doesnt work than check your fuses under the hood

ok same things is happening to me. i plugged in the remote wire on the head unit to the one from the amp and the one on the harness....then i had my passenger door open for a while because i was installing some racing seats. well the headlamp went out. i closed the door then opened and it worked. but when i tried to start the car it wouldnt. check engine light came on and theft system. i waited like 10 minutes inside the car doors locked keys in my pocket. when i went to go turn it on it still wouldnt. then i sorta pressed the break pedal and messed around with the heat knob...then it turned on....i turned it off and on a couple of times and then drove like 30 yards. when i parked it it would not turn on again. like nothing cranks or anything..

then when i took my key out the check engine light stayed on and the miles of the car were on as well. WEIRD!!! i didnt know that when you press the key cylinder in the dome light turns on. but anyways...my car is not turning on right now...what to do??
