installing amp and sub through speakers...

Right now I'm planning on installing an amp and a sub on my car, but I don't want to change my factory radio. The bad thing is that the factory radio doesn't have RCA's (I think) and I can't connect it though RCA. .I know there is a way, I've heard that I can by using the speakers wires to send signal to the amplifier. I'm just asking how I should do it and how to connect it this way.? and if there is a different way to connect them.?

( I don't know much about car audio)

Depending on the amp you use, you may have high level inputs, which means you can just tap into the rear speaker wires and go to those inputs instead of the RCA low level inputs. If your amp only has low level inputs than you will need to buy a line level convertor, which you can buy at pretty much any car audio place, Circuit City, Best Buy etc. and hook that into the rear speaker leads.

I have used this on a simple installation of a Bazooka powered sub into a 2001 Civic. Worked fine. Adjustable levels. I simply spliced into the rear speakers. Two RCAs out.

This is how my setup is installed and it works just fine. Just make sure the connection is good and tight, or else your subs will cut out when you hit big bumps or go down a $hitty road. Pick up some wire tapping connectors, they clamp onto the lead wire(rear 6x9) and then you can just connect the wire going to the amp.

or instead of crimping stuff, you could always solder... lol, especially if you are worried about bumps.
