Dual Altenators? Replacing AC compressor

So Im removing my AC compressor and have room now for something else, and Because of my lack of power I was wondering what would take to replace it with another OEM style Altenator? Also, Will I have any problms If I do this? Yes I will eventually Upgrade to a Stinger High output!

What need do you have for a second alternator, are you pulling 5000+ rms?

don't go with a stinger alternator you can get better for alot less. also you don't need 5000 plus watts to have 2 alternators.

maybe he don't want alot of battery's or a 16-18 volt set up.

you should be able to put the alternator there your have to fab. up a bracket and make sure it spins the same way

Should be pretty easy, you just gonna need a bracket, and possibly a longer belt. Example.

My bad, i had a brain fart. Would be better when the car's running vs tons of batteries. You should be able to fab something up under there, or off the existing mount for dual alternators side by side.

there isnt much space to do side by side alts. if you remove the ac compressor you will have more than enough room to pull it off. Ive looked into it. Why dont you just get a 300 amp or something alt though.

I have a 180amp alternator and the amp output SUCKS at idle. Its puts out less than 30 amps at idle, but 180 amp at 1500rpms.

most alts arent gonna put out ish at where our cars idle. was yours rebuilt. If so that could also be the cause. an rebuilt will have a lower idle output but the running output will be greater than the stock unit. I got my alt from dominick iraggi and when i mentioned that it didnt seem to put out at idle he mentioned that my car probably idles too low and his alts along with others in the industry are made to put out at 8-900 rpms. Its kinda like the average for all vehicles is they way he explained it to me.

Right on, my idle is a little low, even for a J. So I guess that makes sense. Mine was not rebuilt. For some reason I think it was made by BOSS, or something like that.
