Alternator question!
Thursday, February 02, 2006 8:23 PM
I am going to be powering two 12" Infinity subs with a MTX 300 watt amp and Infinity speakers all around with an Alpine 4x40 amp and an Eclipse deck. Will my stock alternator handle this? Will the headlights dim with the music? If there is a problem what can I do about it?

Thanks.

Stock alternator will be fine, you might want to do the big 3, which wysiwig kindly wrote up for your viewing enjoyment. Stock battery should be fine too, you're not pulling much power.

if anything just upgrade your power wire awg or even add a capacitor, the altenator upgrade is a common issue that people have, thinking that by having a bigger altenator will stop light flashing but in reality its just one ingredient to the car stereo mixture, lanman is right just start with the big 3 and then go from there

Don't add a capacitor. Save yourself some money, capacitor will not do anything for your cause.
