I bought these 2 12" subs all ready in the box from best buy,The brand is Dual.It comes with both subs wired to one port a 4ohms.I was woundering is there any way i could wire them to a 2ohm load?My amp is a rockfordfosgate t1000bd at 4ohms its rated at 500watts and at 2 ohms its rated at like 1000.The subs are rated at 600rsm and 1100 peak, so if i could wire it to a 2ohm load would it be to much power?
You can wire them at two ohms you just need to wire them in parallel, and adjust your amp accordingly.
What do you mean by adjusting my amp?and how do you do it?

how is he goin to wire them to 2 ohm's if both sub's are wired to 4 ohm's right now?
1000 watt's might be to much for the sub's 500 might be pushin it, the sub's in the box now might be single 8 ohm's so the lowest you can go it 4 ohms. e-mail them and ask what ohms each specker is.
Damn, you're gonna run those @!#$ty subs on that nice amp?

kinda what i was thinking. my lil brother had those subs (with the packaged dual amp) and it was pathetic. my wife's cheap mtx package system rated for 250 watts blew it out of the water.
GO PATS!!!
Do you think if i put 1 Alpine Type-R in that box it would sound good?
i think just about any sub will sound better than something you can pick up at walmart for 20 bucks
GO PATS!!!
I work at best buy and i must say those are the worst subs made. they will blow out.

Check some online stores, sonic electronix has some cool stuff, good prices, great service, you can try sounddomain, or crutchfeld as well. go to www.the12volt.com and read thru some of the stuff there, check out their calculators and you'll learn some stuff about setting up a system, also you can find out what size the box you currently have is, as far as airspace. Airspace is critical when putting in new subs, as to small of a box is as bad as to large of a box on subs.
That being said Alpines are really nice, memphis makes some really nice stuff to, i've heard some negative things about the new diamond audio subs directly from the dealers mouths so i'm steering away from those for awhile. kicker has some really nice stuff and their new lineup is being released with some nice new subs and features on older models, a couple nice cvrs would probably sound pretty good on that amp or you could run a couple comps as long as the box is towards the smaller end of their required airspace.
