I added a battery to the trunk and its fairly close to the amps. can i just add the ground cable from my amps to the negative battery terminal or should i still ground through the chasis?

Are you running 2 batteries off the stock alt...or did you just relocate the battery?
whichever way is more convenient for your install will work fine.
what i did with mine, was run 1/0 awg from my battery to a distrobution block, then 1/0awg ground to the chassis from the block, the block had spots for other wires and i just grounded the amp there as well.

i relocated my battery to trunk cause my new batt was too big to fit up front. i was going to add it to my existing battery but its older(one year) and if i remember right you shouldnt mix old and new batteries, and i grounded straight to the batt. i've got some alternator whine now, but i'm going to see if maybe its the battery ground. thanks
