it seems that the onyl place to mount it is to the top of the dash, any other ideas?

^^ that's how i did mine. i know yours isn't the same thing, but i figure yours is prolly a little smaller, so it might work out fine... i tried mounting to the right of the cd player with an L shaped bracket stuck into the little pocket underneath, but that got annoying, and i can see it much better where it is now....
thats an idea but i have a sunfire so that area is smaller, not only that but my unit is the same size only rotated, its wider than longer
^^This is true... I don't know, I know people with thiers just mounted front and center on their dash, but that bothers me. just looks obtrusive/out of place.... You could try somewhere around the gap between cd player and hvac controls.
