Damn, I wish I had a huge amp. My Kicker KX600.4 is fairly big at almost 2' but damn that thing is pretty long.

There used to be a cheap POS lanzar out that was like 4-5' long, probably put out the same power as a jl 500/1

I'm kind of partial to an amp known as the "Drag Queen". It came out about 7 years ago and was a preassembled rack of nine amps and it put out about 9K watts RMS and more than double that at 1 ohm, stable to 1/2 an ohm, and - get this - it connected directly to the alternator instead of the battery. I don't even remember the brand and never saw one, but it sounded bad ass.

Why would you connect an amp directly to the alt?

If you connect an amp power wire to the alternator output wire, it's the same as having it connected to the battery as the battery (+) terminal is connected by a battery cable to the alternator. So there is nothing amazing about hooking an amp up to the alternator.

2) It was a "question" question...kind of like a "WTF" question

3)Because I wanted to know why he thought it was so special

I am running the colussus amp in my car pushing two L7 15's it is rated at 3200 watts with each channel bumping out 1600 watts at 1 ohm. Damn thing is HEAVY!!!

The old lanzar amp you guy are talking about earlier may have been the VHC amp, ran kinda good I sold it to buy my current springs. I used to buy nothing but lanzar back in the day. Their DC subs were just a beast.

my old 1200 watt MA Audio amp (MA Audio m1280i) I think was 21" long. Pretty long for any amps I've seen. There's another one at a pawn shop, only 1600 watts, looks like its around 40" long, and hes tryin to sell it for $1116 as compared to my 1200 watt I bought for... $80
