Does anyone have an aftermarket cd player in their cavalier without it sticking out 1"? How would you do this?
I used a piece of plastic, 1/8" thick, and it sits flush. All I did was measure the hole for the source unit and the holes for the mounting screws, drill/cut, and mount. The plastic was like 5 bucks at a hobby shop.

What kit do you have? The metra kit that is specifically for our cars is a flush kit. $18.99 at Circuit City, probly Best Buy similar price.

sometimes its a pain in the ass depending on ur deck u mite have to cut the lip that sticks up in the back where the deck goes. just make sure u put all the wire on top of the deck or somewhere u gotta mess with it but im sure u can get it
It's been awhile so I honestly don't remember... but I don't think it was.
Mine sticks out, and even with that I have to shove it to get it to snap into place... I didn't know there were other kits (I just got the Walmart one) that could make it fit flush... I'll have to look into it.
got this adaptor at best buy. had to make it fit with cuting that tab back there, and i installed 1 or 2 washers on each screw, and had to trim the kit to get it to clear the dash cover. oh ya tons of fun..
The metra kit I have sticks it out 1". Even in the Crutchfield catalogue there kit sticks it out 1". So which one do you have?
Whoa, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Did you buy that? If so where and what part number is that? Or did you make that yourself?
my cdplayer DID stick out.. until i cut a mounting plate out of sheet metal...

click on my sig to see a few pics.
The Metra kit sold at Circuit City made specifically for Cavs and Fires is flush, part number 90-3300 if I remember right, I'll check next time I work. The kit above with the cd slot underneath from BB is most likely the American International kit, I can't remember the part number from it.
