Head Unit Woes

Hey Guys, Nice site you have here

I was wondering if anyone knew of any issues with the 3rd Gen (My Cav is a 99) and Aftermarket Headunits...

I originally bought a Pioneer P3700MP and I liked the headunit, except that the thing heated up like no tommorrow and the unit Dimmed whenever there was a bass punch in any song...

I took that back and bought a Sony CD GTX200 and this unit doesn't have a problem with Bass, but has a heat issue as well...

Any advice on this would be Greatly appriciated!

I Honestly don't know what the problem is...

It's not like I have any Amps hookedup or anything...It's just the Delco'sin the door and a pair of Xplod 3-Ways in the back

What's it doing? Are you sure it's not just the headunit?

I'm not trying to do anything, I'm just trying to keep an aftermarket Head Unit in the car...

I tried the Pioneer and it was pretty bad with the Head Unit Dimming and the HU getting REALLY hot...

The Sony doesn't seem to have this problem thus far, but only time will tell I guess..

Amp the 6x9s and the dimming along with the heat will go away. You are over driving the HU. The 6x9s are eating up the power on the low end at high volumes. 50watts x 4 isnt much

definately! not to mention that 50x4 is really more like 19x4 rms...
