Here's my new SPL /SQ project. I'm using my other Cavy RS that I bought when I was working on my turbo project. I blew the motor on that car and a friend bought it off me to play around with it get it running again. So now I thought I'd do something with my other car. Anyway, all of this is old equipment from another project, but it all works. I've decided to get back into soundoff competition and since I have all this stuff laying around I thought instead of selling it I'd ise it. Here's what I'm working with:
Nakamichi source unit
Rockford Fosgate Symetry 28-band EQ
(2) Canton 3-way 8"/6.5"/1" component set
(2) Ground Zero Nuclear 15" subs
(2) Nexus Lion amps - 2K Watts RMS @ 2 Ohms
(2) Nexus Lynx amps - 125x2 RMS @ 4 Ohms
This system produced mid 150's in a Honda CRX 4 years ago, and has been sitting in boxes in my basement. I haven't started building on the Cavalier yet, but I thought I'd share this with everyone and maybe get some feedback. Hopefully everything still works.

Usually SPL and SQ dont go good together...competition wise.
I'd choose one or the other.

Agreed. For competition, I'm likely going to go SPL, but I don't know what class I'll end up in because anything 8" and bigger is considered a woofer, so my Cantons will probably throw that off a bit. But since this IS my daily driver, I want to have at least respectable sound q, even if it isn't competition ready.

Thanks for the info. I kept hearing 8" was the cutoff. And I remember years back when there was a guy sponsored by Fosgate with a Ford Festiva loaded with Punch 8's so it seemed logical..

Reason they're doing that is because component sets are coming with an 8 inch woofer for some of them, so they made the definition of a subwoofer 10 inches or bigger. Now if you don't have 10 inches or bigger, they go by your biggest speaker.

Low level?! Dude, Nexus amps aint cheap and they work really well and I've heard of those Cantons before. Those babies run like 4 or 500 for the set! I checked out the Ground Zero subs and they run like $700 each, but I don't knw about Sound Q. They're made for SPL. Hell, the EQ isn't any cheaper and it's one of the best ever made. Does Fosgate even make those anymore? Where the hell did he find that stuff?
sounds like fun, keep us updated
