Inspire me!

Howdy.

I need some pictures of people's trunk audio setups. I'm looking into re-doing my sound system this winter, and I want everything to look nice and clean. However, I'll need access to my spare tire. Because, lets face it, $^%# happens.

My current setup is this:

I have mounted my Sony 1200W (XM-2200GTX) on the back of my fold-down rear seat. It's powering 2 Audiobahn AW1251T's in a huge bandpass box. While this box is great for the awe effect when people see it, it's just not as loud as a sealed or sealed/ported box could be.

So, I'm looking into selling the whole setup, and getting this:

A Kicker KX600.1 amplifier, pushing one Kicker Solo-Baric S12L54. Havent decided if I want to go ported, or sealed yet..

Anywho, I'm looking for pictures of people's audio setup that might look something like I'm trying to do here. I'm also hoping against hope that this setup will be louder and hit harder than my current one.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have any pics, but I do have a question, and maybe I can offer advice. Why the Kicker L Series?

From what I hear, they're incredibly loud, quality speakers. The square design pushes more air than a circular design..... Right?

not necessarly...ive heard the square kicker subs do have a larger surface area...but thats only 1/2 the equation. They supposedly dont have the travel...but idno ive never heard one...its just wat some people say, but hey, everyone has their brand that they're going to boast about and put others down in comparison

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

Awww... My audiobahns have been good to me so far! Have had them for nearly 5 years and not a single problem with them. Now I'm just looking for something more. :-)

Anyways, thanks for the advice. Don't know if I'll get 2 of the solobarics or just 1 yet either.

i has an s10l74 hooked up to a diamond audio 3600.1 mono amp. the box was hellishly to small for the sub and it performed awesome. It was in my fiero. in between the seats. And even with your ear being right next to the sub you couldnt hear distortion/ bad sounds. It outperfermed all of my friends subs. As far as excursion. I had that thing moving about 1.5 inches forward 1.5 back. The Sq of it was amazing due to the box. Although it couldnt hit the deepest lows in the world i loved it. for 200 bucks you cant beat it. I would definatly buy another. I just sold mine. i hit a 133.7 with it untuned . not to shabby.

heres a pic dont mind the @!#$ty ness . it was an in progress pic.

enclosures is the key at most speakers..... you can build a box that is right for one speaker and expect it to be good for another.... but the Kicker Ls are nice they became popular in my city and you can tell the difference when they roll bye

Well, I think i've finally decided on the Sub that I want. it's a Kicker L7 15". One of those babies is all I need. Now I just need to decide on an amp, and an enclosure.

Do I want to go sealed, or ported with this sub?

If you want major SPL, an L5 or L7 may not be the best choice, but it's certainly not the worst. It's an excellent sub just because of the quality that Stillwater Designs puts into the Kicker product, I was just wondering what made you decide on them. They do have one major drawback, though. They have problems with excursion, primarily due to the ribbed design incorporated into the corners of the cone. They tend to invert themselves which limits the cone's excursion capabilities. Also, cone area is only part of the equasion. Cone travel, enclosure design, power, resonant frequency, all of that effects the sub's performance.

Even at 1000W RMS and 2000W MAX these aren't good for SPL? :-( I thought because of their square design, it pushes more air. That, and I thought these L7's were like, top of the line.

I've heard rumors about them not being able to handle close to 2000W without locking up. Any truth to this? Any precautions I need to take in buying an amp or installing this thing?
