Rpms through your amp?
Ok well, i have my ground under the driver side part of the dash going to the scan port bracket.
i used the stock one...no problems.
how do you figure that the headunit ground is where noise is being introduced? i bet it's not!!!

More likely that it's something other than the ground for the headunit. Could be bad RCA outputs on the deck, bad ground for the amp, or a number of other things.

could be your power and signal wires are too close together. wether the runs down the car or even behind your deck if you got your wires all crammed back there.

I have the same problem. I'm running my HU off of stock wires except for the signal wires which I put in some 18 awg. I don't get it in the subs (500-10 Hz), but I do get it in my 4 channel speaker amp on all 4 speakers. I took note of my power lines, and there's not a single power line within 6 inches of my signal lines. however I do think I have a poor ground point. I used the bolt in the middle of my back deck and just did some sanding. Could a bad amp ground cause alt whine? (I assume that's what you meant by rpms though the speakers. Also, technically wouldn't it be the positive wire that causes the whine problem since the whole car is technically one big ground wire? So any wire anywhere near the car's metal frame would cause interference if the ground wires were a cause of alt whine too right?
OH, almost forgot, I experimented with my problem and ruled out my amp power cables. I took a power line from my amp still connected and placed it near my signal wires and the alt whine didn't change in volume, so that isn't the problem I don't think. so maybe it's the source cables comming from the hu that are crossing a thick power line somewhere in the dash that isn't as well protected as most amp power cables are.
I have the fix.
1.) Take a tiny piece of wire, doesnt matter what gauge. maybe an inch or 2 long.
2.) Put a nice circular spade on one end, screw it down to one of the little tiny screws on the back of the deck (preferrably close to the line outputs).
3.) Strip off a tiny section of wire covering to expose some wire (on the opposite end of the spade). Twist it real good and shove the bare wire (not much, maybe a half inch of that) along the inside edge of your HIGHS line output, only need the WHITE outout as this is all we needed when we did it. Then just push the rca plug on-to the output (being carful to keep the bare wire on the outside of it and on the inside of the deck outout-DO NOT GET IT IN THE CENTER SECTION OF THE LINES.
We did this on an '01 grand am and OH MY GOD its got to be one of the neatest little stereo tricks I've ever seen. It worked flawlessly, he had very bad ground loop noise (whinging through the high's speakers while idling and gets worse when you rev up the engine).
I was seriously so amazed, the speakers even sounded much cleaner and louder. All around good for the system.
