Ok i installed a Kenwood cd player today in my cav. well i tried putting the antenna wire in and it wouldnt stick in like in the stock radio, i could easily just slide it right back out. i tried pushing on it as much as possible. is it supposed to be like this? I ended up leaving it out but would still like to get it in there.
i had to buy a extension piece when i installed my new deck. if i remember correctly...the stock antenna is an L shape...you need to buy a conversion that the L can plug into and then it has a long enough piece to fit into a new deck.
you can get 'em at circuit city/best buy...places like that.
GO PATS!!!
What he said ^ ... It's called an antenna adapter and runs about $10 at circuity city/best buy. It's just a small wire that you plug the stock antenna into, and the other end goes right into the head unit.
get the extension piece and it will stay put

Mine doesnt bend or anything like a L, it can go all the way down in it seems, just doesnt stick in. Should i still try the adapter?
Should. GM's factory antenna plug is smaller than the aftermarket standard, L-Bend or otherwise
Believe me... the adapter will work and it will "extend" the wire a small amount. As long as you get the right adapter, you won't have any problems. I've used them a number of times on our vehicles.
Yup, you must use an adapter with an aftermarket radio. Gm's plug-in is a different size than the plug-in the head unit requires. The adapter just makes it the right size, so it snugly fits into the head unit. Super easy install.

ive had about 5 aftermartket radios and none of the required any piece all them clipped right in.. ive had a sony a jvc pionner and now a jensen screen all which fit perfect
Well I don't know what you're installing, but all of the antennas I have seen don't "clip in" they plug or slide into a hole in the back of the head unit. You NEED to pick up an adapter if it is not fitting correctly and you want your radio to work. As Luke said.... it's a no brain install.
if u got a wireing harness it should of came with one the adapter.
I may come with the wiring harness in some cases... but I have never had the adapter and harness come together. I have always had to purchase the adapter seperately.
u obviously didnt get your harness at walmart then, the scoshe comes with it
hmmmm.... I am confused, and the Blonde genius that is me,
does not easily get confused
