Too many hook ups to battery?

I hooked up my radio direclty to the battery and it was working great, and then i decided to hook up fog lights on the directly to the battery as well, dor some reason when i turn on the lights, it blows the fuses all the time-and now my radio doesnt work either. Is that because i hooked up two things right of the battery????The radio's fuse is probably blown as well? What do you think?

Its definitly a wiring problem. And why do you have your radio connected straight to the battery? Thats the incorrect way to do it.

I have an alpine, and says to hook to a switched 12 volt source.

Wiper fuse tap is a better choice. Not the best, but it is better.

You're talking about two different wires here. The wire you're talking about is the red ignition power wire, but everyone else is talking about the yellow battery/memory wire, which should get constant 12 volts. There is nothing wrong with hooking the yellow wire up to the battery, like a few other people said, you will probably actually get better performance out of your deck.

the yellow wire is by all means a direct connection to the battery. Your not going to get anymore apmerage by directly connecting it than you are connecting it via the yellow wire because the guage of the wire in the harness isn't any bugger than the stock 12v constant.

However, you should ground the headunit to the car chasis, not the black wire.

If your using an alpine headunite use a nice set of components and some amps, don't bother with the internal amp.

The yellow wires (it has two) on my Clarion deck are a noticably larger gauge than the factory wiring.
