Ok to start off this is in a 02 Focus LX sedan. I have a Panasonic CQ7301U head unit in the car. it's my girls car. Well for the bass end I have a Memphis PR.400 runnin a single 12" alpine SWR-1241D at 2 ohm. well when I go a lil over half way on the volume the head unit starts to skip ALOT. I mean 400 watts should not cause a cd player to skip like it is. any suggestions. My only conclusion is that there is to much of an angle for the head unit. Unfortunatly thats Fords wonderfull design. if anyone can help let me know.

does it skip or does it lose power briefly causing it to not put out any sound?

its not the design its just not mounted in well. remount it.
it's in exactly how it's supposed to be. I just skips on the cd. doesnt lose any power. There is no other way to mount it.

turn the bass down, problem solved!!!
well there isnt much of any bass at all thats the problem. I guess I just either need to invest in a disc changer or get a new headunit for her.

See if u can mount it more securely. Make sure u have the little metal cage(or sleeve) for that CD player cause that usally mounts to the install kit to hold it still. Only other thing u could do is make a mount or sumthing to hold it still..
this one doesnt mount to the kit. you have to take the cage and mount it to the opening in the car and the kit is just like a cover plate. im willing to bet its not mounted as well as it can be
As long as I owned my Focus with (3) 12" subs, and 1600 watts, mine never skipped.
Panasonic doesnt really strike me as a quality brand. If all else fails i'd get a better quality CD player.
ive had a panasonic and my car creates more pressure than most daily drivers and ive never had a problem one bit. not as picky as the clarions i've owned. nicer than the pioneers.
I had the same problem with a Clarion a few years back. Turned out it was a bad chip on the circuit board. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's not bass making it do that. If you bought it online with no warranty, you may need to buy a new cd player.
