Hello,
Looking for a security system that is highquality and not cheaply built when it comes to the remote, etc. Would like to use it with my 5spd eco, have it roll up windows, and be compatible with a turbo timer. Seems like there is so many different kinds and Im kind of overwelmed by all over them. I was hoping maybe someone could give me some suggestions or reviews on their setup. Not really concerned about price as Im willing to spend whatever if its quality.
Thanks,

DEI Responder series, Its a 2-way lcd pager system, it will do everything that you want. its kind of expensive if you buy it retail, but if you are willing to do the work its pretty cheap on ebay. DEI is one of the most respected companies in car security. DEI markets their alarms under several different brand names but they are all pretty much the same thing. Also you should have just done a search, there have been a few posts about this same thing in the last month.

compustar with 2 way remote.
FOR SALE: (5) '95-'99 Z24 Rims
RedDragon knows what he's talking about. DEI is basically top of the line. I got the Python 881XP (keyless entry, remote start, shock sensor, sunroof control, 2-way LCD pager keychain etc etc etc.)
DEI markets their alarms under various brand names such as Viper or Python or Clifford, etc. They are all made by DEI and all the modules will work with eachother.
If you're experienced with electronics and wiring, and aren't afraid to tear your dash wiring apart, you can do it yourself. DEI has a wiring chart available on their website you can download and print. That's the same thing they would do if you got it done professionally too.

Alpine doesn't list security products on their website so I doubt they make them anymore, but really DEI is pretty much the best out there. There are other alarms out there for cheaper but DEI stands behind their products, and I have never really heard of anyone having any problems that were equipment related. If you are installing it yourself just jump on here if you have any problems installing it. If you are paying somebody to do it just make sure that they are MECP certified. That is the only certification program out for Mobile electronics installers and you have to be recertified all the time so if they have the certification then they should know what they are doing.
First off, don't go to Best Buy for an alarm. I saw some installs, and they weren't that great. Maybe I'm just picky... Plus everything is WAY overpriced. I bought a Viper remote start for my g/f's car off eBay brand new for $70 and Best Buy wanted $200+. If you want a good alarm system, go with DEI like the other guys said. I personally like Viper and Clifford. They are both almost identical and install is pretty easy (if you are good with electronics and stuff). If you buy the cheap knock-off's on eBay, don't expect high quality and easy install. You get what you pay for. I installed a Clifford 3.5X Responder remote start and an alarm in my buddys car this weekend. Took about 6.5 hours to do everything. Remote start, alarm, door triggers, lock, trunk, sensors, etc, etc.. If you have any questions about install, just ask! I'd be glad to help when the time comes!
