Engine Computer Retuners, Reprogrammers
Thursday, November 24, 2005 2:45 PM
Are there any computer retuners or reprogrammers for 03+ cavaliers? on the 2.2l ecotec, is there any sort of independat computer programmers available as well?

My uncle tells me that if I plan on doing any major stuff I need one of these to so that the computer can "adapt" to what i have got under the hood...Is this true? Is there anything required other than installing the parts and making sure the parts themselves work?

Does the computer need to be told what it has that is new on the car or does it figure out all that and fix itself?

Sorry if this was the wrong thread, I figured electronics was right since it really isnt discussing performance, just talking to the engine...

Anyways, I saw a post just recently made about upping the ecotec power without any mods other than a computer deal, the tec3, would that be the best bet? And that does work for the 2.2 eco right?

There are currently no reprogrammers for the eco motor. The Tec3 is a complete engine management replacement (replaces the stock ecu, most of the wiring, and some sensors). It is a very expensive item ($1800 is the cheapest I've seen it), but can be made to work on the Eco, although I don't believe anybody has done so yet.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!

Based on just opinion or based on how the tec 2 did, would you say its worth the cash?

your stock ecu should be good for a good bit of time. We've got ecos on here around 240HP boosted on stock ecu's
