OBD II Scanner will not read comp plug-in
Thursday, November 24, 2005 9:15 AM
My check engine light is on in my car. I had 2 different mechanics but a diagnostic tool on it and neither one will come on. It is not getting power to it, we put it on another car and it read but not mine. We even checked fuses... what could be the problem here? My car was inspected in April and it obviously worked then or I wouldn't have passed. Anyone know could be wrong?

And by the way it's a 00 Cavalier 2.2

Check your cig lighter. Thats where the obd 2 port gets its power.

Check fuse, if fuse is blown get new one, if fuse fine use multimeter to find which wire is not getting power, then find where wire is cut/shorted/disconnected. Repair

My buddy had that problem. He borrowed the cig fuse thinking it wouldn't matter. CEL light came on, Autozone couldn't scan it. Luckily he called me and I straightened his ass out .
